Coinbase’s Ethereum Layer-2 Solution
Top US-based crypto exchange platform Coinbase is announcing the launch of a bridge for its Ethereum (ETH) layer-2 scaling solution called Base. The project is powered by blockchain-scaling solution Optimism (OP) and is slated to launch its mainnet on August 9th.
On Chain Summer Festival
To help kick off the launch of the bridge, Base is throwing the first ever on-chain summer festival. According to Base, users can go through their official website, take a quiz on Coinbase or the Coinbase wallet app, or use various web3 protocols such as Galxe, Layer3, or mint.fun to mint a non-fungible token (NFT) and bridge to the layer-2 scaling solution.
Last month, Base opened up its mainnet to developers and completed internal and external security audits in preparation for its launch next week. Additionally, there are no plans to launch a network token associated with Base.
Coinbase has stated that their goal with Base is to make “on chain” the next online and onboard one billion+ users into the cryptoeconomy. This would be achieved by providing both a home for Coinbase’s on chain products as well as an open ecosystem where anyone can build their own projects based within it.
The project’s upcoming launch next week marks another milestone in cryptocurrency technology development; allowing users easier access into this growing industry while bringing new opportunities for builders interested in creating their own projects based within it..
